Support Scouting

The generous donations of our community members and Scouting family enable the Cherokee Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America to give young people the chance to have fun, gain confidence, and become leaders who live the Scout Oath and the Scout Law.

The Boy Scouts of America has been shaping the lives of our youth since 1910. Scouting exists because of the volunteer and financial support provided by the community. The best way to support the Boy Scouts of America financially is by making a contribution directly to the Glacier’s Edge Council.

By giving to your local BSA council, you are directly supporting Scouting programs where you live — programs that clean up your parks, gather food for the area needy and even help your community prepare for disaster. The John Ross District by way of the Council, is funded by a variety of sources, including: direct contributions, events, annual popcorn sale, foundation grants, the United Way and program/activity/camping fees. With your support, we can continue to bring the nation’s highest quality Scouting programs to many more youth throughout Northwest Georgia and Tennessee.

AmazonSmile – Your purchases can support Scouting!

As if you needed another excuse to shop at Amazon. Now every purchase you make from the Earth’s biggest online store can support the John Ross District. Through its AmazonSmile program, introduced in 2014, Amazon donates 0.5 percent of the price of your eligible purchase to the public charitable organization of your choice.

Sure, half a percent isn’t much and won’t replace your Friends of Scouting contributions that help Scouting function in your community. But it adds up, costs you nothing and is a great additional way to support Scouting. The one-time setup takes just a couple of seconds, and you get the same prices, products and service you’re used to when shopping at Amazon. It doesn’t cost you any extra; the only difference is now you’re helping Scouting every time you buy.

Thank you for all you do for Scouting!
